The Catholic Foundation of Maine is pleased to announce that it will distribute over $890,000 to 97 endowment funds in 2015. Catholic Foundation of Maine endowment funds benefit Catholic Charities Maine, parishes, Maine Catholic schools, vocations, and many benevolent ministries across the state.
Catholic Foundation of Maine endowment grants are awarded annually. Among the new endowments instituted in 2014 were:
the Parish of the Precious Blood Endowment to assist with ministries at churches in Caribou, Presque Isle, Washburn, Fort Fairfield, Mars Hill, Limestone, Ashland, and Stockholm.
the St. Michael Catholic School Endowment to address needs at the school.
and the Raymond R. Bedard Endowed Family Scholarship for Saint Dominic Academy to support students at the school’s campuses in Lewiston and Auburn.
“All of the endowment fund distributions make a real difference in the lives of the students who will receive scholarships, the churches and parishes whose needs may be met through the endowment rather than an annual budget, and all those who seek out the vital services provided by the many ministries in our Catholic community,” said Elizabeth Badger, executive director of The Catholic Foundation of Maine.
The foundation was established in 2003 to provide people with the opportunity to support and create endowments that will enhance the work of the Catholic Church in Maine. The foundation manages the funds to ensure that the charitable wishes of the donors are carried out.
