For many years the Social Justice and Peace Commissions of the Augusta Catholic Churches have found it appropriate to bolster the “respect for life” campaign by having a follow up baby shower project. We are pleased to have the participation of many churches in our cluster.
The so-called “shower” is actually a collection of baby items that will be held over the weekends of July 13-27th. These items will be forwarded to appropriate advocacy groups or individuals who deal with, or are having, unplanned pregnancies. While much effort is spent promoting full term pregnancies, this project picks up after the birth event and helps provide some support to the new moms and babies. An appropriate site is being established within your church to receive your donated baby items. Suggested items are receiving blankets, plenty of diapers, wipes, bibs, bottles, baby toys, shoes, socks, ... any basic items that a new mother would need in the first year, especially larger size diapers. These items will be distributed by your Social Justice and Peace group to appropriate persons and/or groups. Thank you very much for your support of this project.
