The Diocese of Portland’s Office of Lifelong Faith Formation will partner with William H. Sadlier, Inc., to offer a free webinar for parents, guardians, catechists, and parish leaders. “Lenten Inspiration for Families” will be presented on Sunday, February 28, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. “The Lenten practices of prayer, penance, and almsgiving offer a particular way of being lived out within the home,” said Lori Dahlhoff, director of the Office of Lifelong Faith Formation. “This is especially true as we navigate these challenging times. The webinar will offer ideas for families that mesh with the fabric of their lives during the six weeks of Lent.” The webinar will be presented by Kathy Hendricks, a national catechetical consultant for William H. Sadlier, who will offer suggestions for resources, online inspiration, and ways of connecting home and parish. Hendricks offers retreats across the country on catechesis, spirituality, and family and is the author of several books, including Seeking Spiritual Balance in Off-Kilter Times and Forming Families in Faith: Catechesis in the Home. “There is a different way that Lent will be celebrated due to the pandemic,” said Hendricks, who also has over 30 years of experience as a Catholic school teacher, catechetical leader, and pastoral minister. “It will likely inhibit some of the traditional ways of marking this sacred season, but the spirit of Lent remains. In this webinar, what I hope to do is to provide inspiration for participants’ own Lenten practices, for families, and for families that they serve.” There will be an opportunity for questions. The webinar will not be recorded. To register for the live webinar, visit https://register.gotowebinar.com/register/6470011715186081550.
