AUGUSTA---Bishop Robert P. Deeley will spend time in each classroom of St. Michael School in Augusta on Friday, December 13, during a special visit to the students and staff at the school located on 56 Sewall Street.
The bishop will speak to all grades (Pre-K through Grade 8) at St. Michael from 9:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., before dining in the student cafeteria.
At 1 p.m., a schoolwide assembly will be held in the school’s gymnasium for St. Michael students to present a check to representatives from the Harold Alfond Center for Cancer Care in Augusta. The school held a “penny war” during the first week of December to raise money for the organization, which cares for more than 12% of Maine’s cancer population, bringing hope and healing to patients and families through a complete range of treatment and support services.
Media members are welcome to attend the check presentation and the bishop’s visit on December 13. If you plan to attend, please contact Dave Guthro, Communication Director for the Diocese of Portland, at (207) 321-7810 or
