The Sacraments

The sacraments are a visible sign instituted by Christ to give grace

Sacrament of the Eucharist:

Eucharist to the Sick: Call Georgette Reny at 622-2828.

The priest consecrates the bread and wine. We call upon the Holy Spirit to make the bread and wine become, in fact, the body and blood of Christ.

Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might. Heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest.

Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.

Sacrament of Baptism:

Sacrament of Baptism - The Sacrament of Baptism is celebrated on the last Sunday Mass of the month except during Lent. Parents must attend the preparation program prior to the Baptism. We recommend calling the Pastoral Center prior to the birth of your baby to attend pre-Baptism classes.

Sacrament of Reconciliation:

The Sacrament of Reconciliation is available from 2 to 2:45 p.m. Saturdays at St. Augustine Church.

Reconciliation gives Catholics an opportunity to admit our sins, ask forgiveness and experience reconciliation with God and those we have hurt. We know that we are forgiven.

The Act of Contrition helps us to express sorrow for our sins. It is prayed as part of our celebration of Reconciliation or prior to the Sacrament, as we examine our conscience.

My God, I am sorry for my sins with all my heart.
In choosing to do wrong, and failing to do good,
I have sinned against you whom I should love above all things.
I firmly intend, with your help, to do penance
to sin no more, and to avoid whatever leads me to sin

Sacrament of Confirmation:

Registration for The Sacrament of Confirmation - Contact Gail Gould in the Faith Formation Office for more information on educational and sacramental programs for children in grades kindergarten through adult.

If you or your child are interested in becoming a Catholic or in completing your initiation in the Catholic Faith through the reception of the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and/or Eucharist, please contact the Pastoral Center

Sacrament of Marriage:

Sacrament of Marriage - Please call the Pastoral Center and make arrangements at least six months in advance of the wedding date. Couples must meet with the pastor and attend a preparation program prior to the wedding.

Sacrament of Holy Orders:

For more information, speak to the Pastor or call the Vocations Office at the Chancery at 773-6471.

  • Vowed Religious: Often, Catholics follow a calling to join religious communities, such as sisters or brothers, and take vows of poverty, chastity and obedience to help them become completely devoted to God and their ministries.
  • Ordained Ministers: A special vocation to lead the community calls those who choose to be bishops, priests and deacons. Bishops are the chief teachers of the faith. Diocesan priests serve as pastors of parishes, educators and counselors while priests who belong to religious communities may be assigned to duties within a particular ministry. Deacons assist pastors by leading celebrations of Baptism and Marriage, preaching at Mass and helping with other parish duties. Deacons, however, may marry and have families.

Sacrament of the Sick:

Sacrament of the Sick - Please call the Pastoral Center during the course of a loved one’s illness so that the person may be given this healing consolation. This Sacrament may also be administered at Church after any Mass for those who anticipate hospitalization.
